Puppy Parenting is led by Sharon, owner and Certified Professional Dog Trainer, who brings more than 25 years of hands-on experience working with dogs and their families.

Sharon has personally trained and mentored Heaven and Austyn in the positive, humane methods and training philosophy used by Puppy Parenting. Together, our family team provides personalized dog training and dependable pet-care services for the families we serve.

Training can begin as soon as your puppy comes home! Early training should be positive, age-appropriate, and focused on building good habits and helping your puppy learn how to live successfully with your family.

Early puppy training may include potty training, crate training, name recognition, basic skills, leash introduction, handling, appropriate chewing and nipping, and safe socialization experiences.

The goal isn't to overwhelm a young puppy with formal obedience—it's to create positive experiences and establish a strong foundation for future learning.

In-home training allows us to work with you and your dog in the environment where everyday behaviors actually happen.

Instead of trying to recreate problems in a classroom setting, we can work on things such as jumping at the front door, barking, household manners, leash walking in your neighborhood, and other concerns right where they occur.

Private training also allows us to personalize each session to your dog, your family, and your individual goals.

Yes. Puppy Parenting uses positive, humane training methods designed to help dogs learn what we want them to do rather than simply correcting them for making the wrong choice.

We use rewards such as praise, treats, toys, attention, and other things your individual dog finds motivating. We also teach families how consistency, communication, routine, and appropriate management can help encourage better behavior.

Our goal is to build skills while strengthening the relationship between you and your dog.

You will be an important part of the training process!

We don't simply come into your home, work with your dog, and leave. We work with both you and your dog. We'll demonstrate techniques, practice with your dog, and then teach you how to use those same techniques yourself.

Helping you understand how to communicate with and guide your dog is one of the most important parts of what we do. 

The initial assessment gives us an opportunity to meet you and your dog in your home, discuss your concerns, observe your dog's behavior, and learn more about your household and daily routine.

We'll talk about the behaviors you'd like help with, your training goals, and what you've already tried. From there, we can discuss an individualized training plan and the next steps that make sense for you and your dog.

Every dog and situation is different, but we commonly help families with concerns such as basic obedience, jumping, barking, leash manners, coming when called, household manners, puppy biting and nipping, potty training, crate training, impulse control, and other everyday behavior challenges.

Yes, we can work with many dogs who are fearful, anxious, easily overwhelmed, or reactive. One advantage of private in-home training is that we can begin in your dog's familiar environment rather than immediately placing them into a busy group setting.

Because every situation is different, we'll first talk with you about your dog's behavior and history. If we believe your dog would benefit from additional veterinary or behavioral support, we'll discuss that with you as well.

We work with both puppies and adult dogs. Dogs can continue learning throughout their lives, so training isn't just for puppies.

Whether you've recently adopted an adult dog, want to improve everyday manners, need help with obedience skills, or are working through a behavior concern, we'll tailor training to your individual dog and household.

We provide in-home pet sitting, dog walking, and mid-day care designed to help pets remain comfortable in their familiar surroundings and routines.

Before services begin, we'll learn about your pet's feeding schedule, potty routine, exercise needs, personality, and individual care instructions. We also care for cats, birds, rabbits, and other small household pets.

For pet-sitting clients, our Meet-and-Greet gives us an opportunity to meet you and your pets in their own home, learn their routines, discuss care instructions, and answer your questions before you leave them in our care.

We recommend contacting us as early as possible, particularly for holidays, school breaks, summer vacations, and other busy travel periods.

Availability can fill quickly during popular travel times. The earlier we hear from you, the better chance we'll have of accommodating the dates you need.
